Introduction
Acquire NEXUS supports using personal electronic devices for educational purposes and may provide internet access to enhance learning experiences. This policy outlines the acceptable use of Bring Your Device (BYOD) and internet resources at Acquire NEXUS. By using these services, students agree to adhere to the guidelines and expectations outlined in this policy.
- BYOD Policy
1.1 Scope
This policy applies to all students who bring personal electronic devices, including but not limited to laptops, tablets, and smartphones, to Acquire NEXUS
1.2 Device Requirements
Students are responsible for ensuring their devices:
- They are in good working condition.
- Have up-to-date antivirus software.
- Are compatible with the school’s network and software requirements.
1.3 Usage Guidelines
- Devices should be used primarily for educational purposes during school hours.
- Students may connect to the school’s secure Wi-Fi network when available.
- Devices should be charged before school and used in a way that does not disrupt classes.
- Students must follow the teacher’s instructions regarding when and how devices are to be used.
1.4 Security and Liability
- Students are responsible for the security and care of their devices.
- Acquire NEXUS is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal devices.
- Students are encouraged not to share their devices with others.

2.1 Access and Monitoring
- Internet access is provided to support educational objectives.
- Acquire NEXUS reserves the right to monitor and log internet usage to ensure compliance with this policy.
2.2 Acceptable Use
Students must use the internet in a responsible, ethical, and legal manner, including but not limited to:
- Accessing only age-appropriate and educational content.
- Respecting intellectual property rights by not engaging in plagiarism or illegal downloads.
- Using school-approved communication tools for collaboration and assignments.
2.3 Prohibited Activities
Students must not engage in activities that include, but are not limited to:
- Accessing or sharing obscene, inappropriate, or illegal content.
- Cyberbullying, harassment, or any form of digital misconduct.
- Attempting to bypass school network security measures.
- Downloading or installing unauthorized software or applications.
- Digital Citizenship
3.1 Online Behavior
Students are expected to demonstrate good digital citizenship by:
- Communicating respectfully and thoughtfully online.
- Protecting their personal information and respecting the privacy of others.
- Report any security issues or inappropriate content to a teacher or administrator.
3.2 Academic Integrity
Students must maintain academic integrity by:
- Completing assignments independently unless collaboration is explicitly allowed.
- Citing sources appropriately and avoiding plagiarism.
- Consequences of Policy Violations
Violations of the BYOD and Internet Use Policy may result in disciplinary actions, including but not limited to:
- Temporary or permanent loss of BYOD and/or internet privileges.
- Suspension/expulsion from school.
- Notification of parents/guardians (where applicable).
- Legal action, if applicable.
- Policy Updates
Acquire NEXUS may update this BYOD and Internet Use Policy periodically. Students and guardians will be notified of any significant changes, and the revised policy will be available on the school’s website.
